Drive-In Rack system in an industrial warehouse

Drive-In Rack in Las Vegas, NV

A Las Vegas warehouse supplying hospitality accounts, trade orders, or regional distribution needs storage that leaves room for the next receipt as well as today's dispatch. Drive-in rack reduces the number of access aisles. The forklift drives inside the structure and sets pallets on continuous rails, which packs additional positions into a given footprint when inventory fills the lanes. The cost is access: only the pallets at the open end of the lane are reachable until you work through the ones in front.

That makes it the right call for large volumes of a small number of SKUs - bulk buffer stock, seasonal inventory, freezer product - and the wrong call the moment SKU variety climbs. Drive-in loads and unloads from one end for LIFO; drive-through is open at both ends for FIFO, at the cost of a few positions and a second access aisle.

We lay out drive-in around your specific lift truck's dimensions and your SKU depth, then put the position count next to a selective plan of the same footprint so the density gain is a number, not a sales claim.

Why Las Vegas Businesses Work With Us

Central Las Vegas planning starts with the actual receiving pattern, not an assumption that every pallet stays in reserve. Around Charleston Boulevard and the Arts District, a distributor may handle hotel supplies, event materials, and regular replenishment in one building. I-15 access matters for delivery planning, but dock space inside the property determines how much rack can be installed without crowding outbound orders.

The important tradeoff is reserve density versus access to an individual pallet. We review quantities per SKU, the exact forklift envelope, and the loading sequence before setting lane depth. Guide rails, column protection, pallet support, and inspection access belong in the same drawing. A wider assortment or frequent partial picks may call for selective bays alongside the deep lanes.

Las Vegas Warehouse Racking connects your Las Vegas project with Warehouse Equipment & Supplies Co. The discussion covers design, quoting, installation planning, and later changes to the approved system. Call (702) 745-0321 with the building drawing and product details; we will identify what needs checking before material is ordered or existing rack is changed.

    How Drive-In Rack Works

    1

    Continuous rails, not beams

Pallets rest on rails carried by upright frames rather than individual beam levels, so a lane accepts pallet after pallet at the same elevation.

    2

    The truck enters the lane

The driver travels inside the bay to place or retrieve each load. Lane width, rail height, and mast clearance get dimensioned to that specific truck, not a generic one.

    3

    One open end or two

One open end gives LIFO and high storage density. Two open ends give FIFO with slightly fewer positions, since each lane now needs clearance from both sides.

    4

    Guarding built into the design

Guide rails, column guards, and rail-end protection are part of the spec from the start, because truck clearance and protection need to be resolved before loading begins.

    Where It Fits Best

High volume of a small number of SKUs
Seasonal or buffer inventory held in bulk
Cold storage and freezer rooms where cube matters most
Product too fragile to floor-stack more than two high
Buildings where floor space, not height, is the binding constraint

What We Need to Design It

    • What forklift will enter the lanes, and what are its exact dimensions?
    • How many pallets do you hold per SKU?
    • Do you need LIFO, or does the product require drive-through FIFO?
    • What's the clear height and floor condition in the storage area?
    • How many total pallet positions are you trying to reach?

    What a Project Includes

The design starts with the forklift, not the rack. Mast height, overall width, load backrest, and turning clearance decide lane dimensions, so truck specifications get collected before anything is drawn.

Next we look at SKU depth. Drive-in rewards deep lanes of a single product and punishes variety - if a lane never fills, you've built an expensive way to store less than you could have with selective. Where the inventory profile is mixed, we'll usually recommend a hybrid: selective at the pick face, drive-in behind it for reserve.

The quote itemizes frames, rails, rail supports, guide rails, and column protection, with a CAD drawing showing lane depth, rail elevations, and total positions. Experienced installation crews we schedule and manage assemble the rack anchored to the floor, align each rail run, and verify loaded pallet travel before handover.

Because drive-in lanes operate close to lift trucks, we review guarding, operating access, and future expansion compatibility as part of the design. Unload affected positions if damage is identified.

The layout is checked against the building dimensions and the operating envelope of your handling equipment. Receiving space, loaded pallet dimensions, beam spacing, and access to each storage zone are resolved before material is ordered. Component availability and installation timing are confirmed in the quote rather than promised from a standard schedule. Experienced installation crews we schedule and manage work from the agreed drawing, with the rack anchored to the floor. At handover, your team receives the layout and capacity information for the installed configuration, with travel paths and loading arrangements reviewed before the rows are put into service.
